I’m scared for you. Surely you know that we live in a world that looks at you as a pariah. Even as a good person, you could lose your life for just jogging at the park, playing video games at home or leaving your bachelor party. It frightens me terribly, but there’s one thing that you need to know, you’re loved. You’re loved by me and a community that will fight for you. My dear children, please don’t live in fear, don’t play checkers, play chess. Use your minds and the strength in your voices to help build all black people, young, old, rich, or poor. And don’t forget where you come from. Remember that you come from a bloodline full of fighters. Never give up and always speak up for yourselves and the voiceless. God bless you and may he keep you protected.
